ABOUT US
Backwoods Nursery is a family-owned and operated facility in southeast Georgia. We have greenhouses and outdoor planting areas so we can grow all sizes and varieties of indoor and outdoor plants suitable for the south Georgia/north Florida climate zone.
The company was started as a hobby project by owner Glynn Courson after moving back to the family farm upon retiring from a 20-year career in the military. Glenn took an interest in horticulture as a teenager and began collecting exotic plants during his numerous overseas expeditions in the military. Upon his return to the farm, he began growing all varietes of cacti, orchids, succulents, bromeliads, ferns, and other semitropical plants.
After cultivating two greenhouses full of plants, Glynn decided to open his doors for business. You can now purchase Backwoods Nursery plants by visiting his greenhouse or stopping by his booth at the Douglas Farmer's Market. If you'd like to pre-order for pick-up or order by phone for delivery, call 912-283-6981 (leave a message if no answer).
